MS Exchange administrators receive efficiency boost

~ Kroll Ontrack launches PowerControls 1.0 to search and restore archived mailbox data in record time ~

Kroll Ontrack’s new solution, PowerControls 1.0, allows network storage managers and network, email and helpdesk administrators to restore emails in only half the time it used to take. PowerControls restores individual mailboxes, folders, messages, attachments and calendar items from any previous backup directly to production Exchange servers or PST files (Personal Storage Files). Businesses will therefore save time and money, as this previously took hours to perform.

“While most companies have automated procedures to archive emails, it’s usually a laborious task to access the stored data,” said Todd Johnson, general manager at Kroll Ontrack Europe. “If a user mailbox is damaged, for example, restoring its contents can be a time-consuming process – and that’s if an individual mailbox backup for that account has been completed. With PowerControls 1.0, this problem is avoided.”

Ontrack PowerControls 1.0 offers a number of key features:
  • Restores message-level items from any previous backup directly to production Exchange servers and existing or new Outlook PST files
  • Restores individual mailboxes from any previous backup, eliminating the need to back up mailboxes individually (known as ‘brick-level’ backup)
  • Includes powerful tools to search by keywords and/or criteria quickly and view mail stored within an archived EDB file, rather than mounting it on an Exchange server first
  • Quickly views mail stored within an archive PST file rather than importing it back into Outlook first
  • Includes a powerful GUI that allows for ‘drag and drop’ convenience when transferring mailboxes and messages from archival source to destination
PowerControls 1.0 is compatible with MS Exchange Server versions 5.5 and 2000. The solution is available online at www.ontrack.co.uk for £649, with additional pricing available for multiple server licences.
